our fees

The Australian Psychological Society's recommended price for a 46-60 minute session is $311. thoughts and things have set their fees under these recommendations to make sessions more affordable for clients to access mental health care services. 

Session costs to see a REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGIST in-person/telehealth:

  • Initial assessment 60-90 minute session = $310 ($330 on Saturdays)

  • Standard (before 5 pm) 50-minute session = $240

  • After-hours (after 5 pm, and Saturdays) 50-minute session = $260

Session costs to see a CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST in-person/telehealth:

  • Initial assessment 60-90 minute session = $340 ($370 on Saturdays)

  • Standard (before 5 pm) 50-minute session = $270

  • After-hours (after 5 pm, and Saturdays) 50-minute session = $290

If you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your general practitioner (GP), a Medicare rebate can be received for each session. You can claim Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

The Medicare rebate differs between registered psychologists and clinical psychologists. Registered psychologists receive a Medicare rebate of $96.65 per session, while clinical psychologists receive a Medicare rebate of $141.85 per session.

Some private health insurers could also provide you with a rebate. Please contact your health fund about eligibility criteria.

cancellations

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please give us at least 24-hours notice. Unfortunately, if this is not given, the usual full fee will be charged. Medicare rebates cannot be accessed for these appointments.
