Wesley Yao is a Registered Psychologist who is passionate about helping people feel supported, understood, and empowered to make positive changes in their lives. He believes that therapy should feel safe and collaborative, where clients can openly explore their challenges and build on their strengths at their own pace. Wesley has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults across a range of concerns, including anxiety, low mood, stress, behavioural difficulties, and life transitions.

His approach is flexible and client-focused - adapting strategies to suit each individual’s needs, goals, and circumstances. His work draws on evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and strengths-based approaches. Wesley aims to provide clients with practical tools they can use in their everyday lives, while also supporting them to build resilience and long-term wellbeing.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy watching movies and basketball; listening to pop songs, Kpop and Cpop; and eating good food.

Other than that, you might catch me lion dancing throughout the year, especially during the Lunar New Year and Moon Festival periods.

What’s your favourite quote?

"The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it". - The Lion King

Where is your favourite travel destination?

My recent travel to China has opened my eyes to how much more there is to explore and experience there. Each city has its own unique
cultural atmosphere, architectural style, and local cuisine. I want to explore them all!

What does therapy mean to you?

To me, therapy means having a safe and supportive space to better understand yourself. It is an opportunity to reflect on thoughts,
emotions, and experiences, and to develop healthier ways of coping with life’s challenges. I see therapy as a process of self-awareness,
growth, and learning tools that support long-term wellbeing.
