Keegan McMullen is a Clinical Psychology Registrar. He has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults across a range of emotional, behavioural, and interpersonal difficulties. He tailors therapy to the individual, valuing the insight each person has into their own life and what matters to them. Together, he combines this with evidence-based strategies to support a meaningful direction forward.

His approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based therapies. He has extensive experience delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Keegan has a particular interest in supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, panic, depression, emotion regulation difficulties, and personality-related challenges. He also works with individuals navigating social challenges and self-esteem concerns, and strives to help clients build practical skills to manage these experiences.

Keegan has extensive experience working with children and adolescents. He is trained in evidence-based parenting approaches, including Parent Management Training (PMT) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and supports families in managing behavioural difficulties while maintaining strong, secure relationships. He also works with children experiencing anxiety and mood concerns, using evidence-based approaches to help them build confidence and develop effective coping skills.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Outside of the clinic, Keegan enjoys staying active, including playing volleyball, bouldering, and going on multi-day hikes. He is an avid audiobook listener, enjoys video and board games with friends, and spends time creating music.

What’s your favourite quote?
“Dude, suckin’ at something is the first step to being sorta good at something." - Jake The Dog, Adventure Time

Where is your favourite travel destination?
Queenstown, New Zealand. Surrounded by picturesque, snow-capped mountains and the calm towering over a huge lake, he finds it naturally mindful and overwhelmingly sublime. I enjoy spending time snowboarding during the winter months and unwinding afterwards with warm food and a relaxed atmosphere. It is the perfect balance of activity and rest.

What does therapy mean to you?
I hold a strong “one size fits one” philosophy, recognising that each person brings valuable insight into their own life, as well as the direction they want it to take. I work collaboratively to combine this insight with clinical expertise, helping individuals move toward a life that feels meaningful and worthwhile to them.
