Prenita is a Registered Psychologist with 15+ years of extensive experience working with individuals across the lifespan with a range of psychological issues including depression, anxiety, trauma and acute stress, adjustment difficulties, emotional dysregulation and behavioural concerns, gender and identity issues, and family and relationship interpersonal dynamics. Prenita has worked in both private, and public sectors (including NDIS and Community Mental Health).

 

Grounded in a client-centred philosophy, Prenita is dedicated to creating a warm, safe and supportive space for clients to feel seen, heard, and understood throughout their therapeutic journey. Prenita blends traditional evidence based methods such as cognitive behavioural therapy (cbt), trauma focussed cognitive behavioural therapy (tf-cbt), acceptance and commitment therapy (act), narrative therapy, solution focussed therapy, and elements of dialectical behavioural therapy (dbt); with holistic modalities that address the whole person, fostering self-awareness, self-development, empowerment, and a sense of purpose and meaning.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I love to potter around my home, reading, and spending time with my family and friends. My most favourite activity is to spend time with my furry niece Dahlia, either hiking, exploring great walks, or hanging out and watching Netflix. 


What’s your favourite quote?

Where is your favourite travel destination?

South Africa is my favourite travel destination - famously referred to as the rainbow nation. It is also my birthplace, and where most of my extended family still live. I love to visit my family often, and explore the vibrant cultures and scenic beauty that South Africa has to offer. Oh, and the food, a glorious fusion of different cultural cuisines with traditional African dishes!


What does therapy mean to you?

For me, therapy is a safe space for clients to heal, be vulnerable, get to know themselves more deeply, rediscover their strengths or develop new ones, and grow and adapt to life's challenges. I am just their humble guide throughout their therapeutic journey with me.
